Mirali AlmaulaMirali is an editor, writer, educator, and stand-up comedian. In 2015, she received her PhD inliterary/theatre studies in English at the University of Guelph. Her areas of interest includeCanadian theatre and North American stand-up comedy dealing with marginalized voices, andpower relations as investigated through the mediatization of stand-up comedy on YouTube,television, film, and Netflix.

Since completing her studies Mirali has worked as a Digital Content Editor as well asEditor-in-Chief at ​The Ontarion​, the University of Guelph’s independent student newspaper. Shehas experience overseeing both print and web publication and has contributed to organizationalrestructuring and strategic planning efforts that are necessary in a rapidly changing medialandscape.

Mirali has been Editor-in-Chief at ​Intermission​, the Toronto-based online theatre magazine,since May 2019. She hopes to continue and grow ​Intermission​’s important work in her new role;namely, shining a light on Canadian artists and theatre practitioners and providing a platform forthem to share their stories in their own words.
