Kathy Hsieh

Cultural Partnerships and Grants Manager, Seattle Office of Arts & Culture

Kathy Hsieh oversees community-building, funding, and racial equity programs for the Seattle Office of Arts & Culture as their Cultural Partnerships and Grants Manager. A change agent in transforming the Office’s community engagement and arts funding practices through a racial equity lens, she helped the agency earn the Seattle Management Association’s first Race & Social Justice Management Award. She has worked as Managing Director, Marketing Director and Development Director for local non-profit arts organizations such as the Northwest Asian American Theatre, Freehold and Living Voices and she is a Co-Executive Producer for her own theatre company SIS Productions. As a theatre artist, she prioritizes work that creates visibility and opportunities for, and highlights the talent and contributions of, artists and communities of color. Kathy is one of the original founders of Theatre Puget Sound, and has served as Treasurer for the League of Fringe Theatres, Board President for ReAct, and Board President for the Northwest Asian Weekly Foundation. She has also served on advisory committees, boards, or panels for KING-5 TV, the Seattle Repertory Theatre, Intiman Theatre, Fred Hutchinson Research Center's Chinese Women's Cancer Project, the Seattle Asian American Film Festival, Freehold Theatre’s Diversity Scholarship Committee, and Asian MBA. She has received honors from the National Association of Asian American Professionals, Verizon’s Asian Pacific American Innovator Award, and in 2015 received the International Examiner Community Voice Award in the Arts.
