Executive Director

Appointed the Executive Director of Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra (IPO) in January 2017, Ms. Salerno joined the symphonic world having spent seven years as Executive Director of Salt Creek Ballet (SCB). While at IPO, Ms. Salerno successfully shepherded the orchestra to a new home venue and led a nation-wide search for a new music director.  Her tenure has been marked by increased subscriptions and attendance at concerts, innovative new programming aimed at building new audiences, and a 10% increase in non-governmental philanthropic giving.  At SCB, Ms. Salerno led a campaign to build all new sets and costumes for the company’s annual production of "The Nutcracker." Her passion for increasing the visibility and capacity of arts organizations has led her to design initiatives aimed at: increasing contributed and earned revenue levels, developing board capacity, and building innovative community engagement programming. Ms. Salerno currently sits on the Advisory Board of Arts DuPage, and she is a board member with the Illinois Council of Orchestras and Homewood Arts Council.  She has twice served on the Grants Panel for the Illinois Arts Council Agency, once as a dance panelist, and once as a music panelist.  Ms. Salerno holds a Masters of Performing Arts Administration degree from Roosevelt University’s Chicago College of Performing Arts. Prior to moving to the management side of arts organizations, Ms. Salerno enjoyed a 15-year professional ballet career as a soloist with Boston Ballet, Zurich Ballet and The Royal Ballet in London.
