Director of Community Engagement Programs at Lincoln Center Education, Lincoln Center For the Performing Arts
An arts administrator, professional developer, educator and choreographer, Sita Frederick is the Director of Community Engagement Programs at Lincoln Center Education (LCE) and the Artistic Director of Areytos Performance Works, a contemporary dance-theatre company rooted in Caribbean traditions and the principles of social justice. Prior to her position at LCE she served as Urban Arts Partnership's Program Director of Everyday Arts for Special Education (EASE), the largest arts and special education research project that was awarded a 2010-15 US Department of Education Investing in Innovation grant. She has presented at national education conferences including: LCE Summer Forum, Kennedy Center/VSA Intersections, Arts Education Partnership, Investing in Innovation US DOE Conference 2015, and SXSWedu. As a dancer Sita performed with Bessie-winning choreographers Jawole Willa Jo Zollar of Urban Bush Women and Merian Soto, co-founder of Pepatian. Presenters of her choreographic works include Hostos Center for the Arts and Culture, Bronx Academy of Arts and Dance, Aaron Davis Hall/Harlem Stages, The Community Folk Art Center @ Syracuse University, University of Texas, Austin, among others. Education: MFA in New Media Art and Performance from Long Island University, Brooklyn Campus.
